Truth’s Pathway
Truth always comes to the forefront regardless of the path. The only hindrance to truth are the ears that reject it.
A good friend of mine, a brother in Christ, has unwittingly challenged me. He mentioned to me a story of a man that replicated Noah’s Ark. This man was challenged with a question of how all those animals fit inside the Ark. Mathematically speaking there was not enough space. So the man said that God only brought species of animals inside the Ark. I will assume that once the animals left the Ark, they diversified over a long period of time to create the variety of animals that we have today. So then the man was challenged to justify his position of how he knew that it was only animal species, and the man responded with, “he just knows.”
So is this man crazy for claiming he just knows? Some may not go as far as to say he is crazy, but most likely, many will dismiss his claim and politely walk away. I have sympathy for this man. He completed his task of building the Ark as instructed by God and he knows something that he cannot explain how he knows.
So allow me to share a true personal story with you that is well documented. Several years ago at my place of worship I saw something, a building defect. It was a serious defect to the point I just knew it was going to lead to a disaster. But others did not see it. In fact, nobody else saw it including an engineering firm so my concern was dismissed and not taken seriously. I was even mildly mocked. I am not a building engineer, so who am I to suggest such a thing?
Over a year or so of questioning my own sanity and experiencing anxiety, I gave up trying to convince others. In fact, I gave up a few times trying to convince others to see what I knew was true. But then I became determined to give up; I was tired of the struggle. I said to God one evening that I was done trying and I meant it this time. I had plenty of Emails showing my claim of the danger, and if something happened, I would be able to show the world I tried; this was my justification to clear my conscience.
However, God showed me something else. In a very direct way one evening, while I was at the church, He showed me how this was not about me and that it was about others. Simply stated, God gave me a task and I was willing to abandon it because it was not convenient for me; I was being selfish. Seeing what He showed me, I then became 100% determined to not give up.
So with a renewed determination, I continued. Eventually the church leadership decided to pay two separate engineering firms to inspect the building. We were finally going to have resolution one way or the other. Both engineering firms confirmed my fear; there was a serious defect with the building structure which was later corrected and resolved. So how did I know there was a serious defect? Because God showed me.
Now getting back to the gentleman who built a replica of Noah’s Ark and his claim that he “just knows”. Is he crazy? I lean towards saying, no. Maybe God did just as the man described; God only used species and that is how all the animals fit inside the Ark.
And what about Noah himself? Was he crazy for building a boat on dry terrain? Noah spent years and years and years building while being persecuted by those around him. So my question to you is: If you were Noah’s neighbor, would you have been the one to offer him nails to build his boat, or would you have been one of many to mock or reject the builder?
Imagine the following: In Mark 6:4 we know Jesus did not preach in His hometown because people knew Him at a personal level and so He had little honor by many who knew Him. And what about the many times the church (temple) leadership of His time thought Jesus was crazy and rejected the Truth from the Son of God?
And was Isaiah crazy because he walked around naked preaching for God (Isaiah 20:2). Can you imagine if you saw Isaiah naked on a street corner preaching today? Would you call the police about a crazy man?
The Book of Revelation was transcribed by a person named John (not the same person as John the Disciple). If this same John were to be walking around today proclaiming the words of Revelation, we’d all most likely consider him crazy. But yet today we listen to sermons about what John wrote.
So how can you know what is the truth; especially since we are surrounded by many untruths? At the very least, you are to consider that what you are being told is the truth. Does it make sense to reject the truth based on how it is delivered? Is truth any less truthful if it is given to us by a person named Noah, or Jesus, or Isaiah, or John, or a man who claims he just knows?
Therefore, you are not to reject the truth when it is presented to you even today. You are to know that through others Truth is presented to you by God; and it is not wise to reject the Truth based on how it is delivered. God is working in our world today just as He did thousands of years ago. God is not away; He is here today working through individuals. We are to rely on the Spirit, given to us by Christ, to listen and then discern what God is making known to each of us.
